Ensuring the game is accessible to a wide range of players by offering options for varying skill levels, preferences, and disabilities can increase engagement and retention. This inclusivity allows more players to enjoy and connect with the game, leading to longer-lasting engagement and a stronger community.

  • Multiple difficulty levels: Not all players enjoy the most complex or difficult games. Consider offering different difficulty options.
  • Respawn: Players can accidentally fall underneath or outside your main experiences, making it hard to play the game and requiring them to rejoin the room. Consider adding a respawn zone underneath or outside the experience so players can respawn back at the entry.
  • Level select: Accommodates players who may need to take breaks or have limited playtime, making it great for splitting a linear experience across multiple sections. This is also a great option if the player crashes during a level.
  • Multiple platforms: Investing time to ensure compatibility across all platforms and creating intuitive interactivity and navigation throughout the experience greatly enhances player engagement. Not only does it encourage continued play, but it also facilitates inviting friends, especially those on different platforms, such as mobile devices.
