On Mar. 23, 1923, what we now know today as the “Fox Den” cave system was first discovered and documented. A group of three cavers went into an abandoned mining site where the leader of the group saw a crack in the wall. They were able to fit through and found an extensive and ancient cave system on the other side. The majority of the cave system was blocked off, but what remains is now a popular hangout area.
