- Player Level 20+: We've lowered the required player level from 30 to 20. This allows aspiring creators to use Rec Room Studio while ensuring they still have enough experience on the platform to contribute meaningfully.
- Good Vibes: Have a clean moderation history in the last 90 days!
Why Do These Changes Matter?
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to create. We’ve said this a lot lately, but it’s true! One of our pro-level tools for creating is Rec Room Studio, and we see thousands of creators use it every day. Over half of the top 25 rooms—including hits like RecVideoChat, IgnitedBonnie, and our recent RROs Make it to Midnight and My Little Monsters—were built using Studio tools! We want to see more great rooms coming out of Rec Room Studio so in service of that goal, we're making it easier for creators to try out Rec Room Studio.
What Does This Mean for You?For new creators, if you are eligible under the new criteria, this update will give you full access to build and publish Rec Room Studio Rooms and get them out into the Room-i-verse! We are rolling this out in stages to make sure nothing goes wrong with extra users onboard, so if you don’t have publish abilities immediately, keep checking back HERE as we add more and more creators. While you’re waiting, you can still download Rec Room Studio and get familiar with the Studio tools before you get build and publish access!For existing creators already using Rec Room Studio, your workflow will stay the same. With more creators joining, we expect to see an increase in usage and therefore build activity. What happens if I don’t meet the publishing criteria?You can still explore and build in Studio. If you create something and later become eligible for full access, you’ll be able to publish your room immediately upon gaining access. While we aim to maintain consistent performance for all creators, build times for non-Rec Room+ users may vary if we see very high overall platform activity.
Why is there still a player level 20 requirement?The level 20 requirement ensures that creators have enough experience on the platform to still effectively use the more advanced Rec Room Studio tooling.
