Busting Bad BehaviorHey, all! It’s been a busy month for Rec Room’s security and safety teams. So, we thought we’d drop you an update on how the implementation of our Three Strike Policy is going and let you know what’s going on with disrupting cheaters.
Let’s Talk Numbers: Three Strike PolicyJust a month ago, we implemented and immediately began enforcing our Three-Strike Creation Policy aimed at creators who have repeatedly ignored our Creator Code of Conduct (CCoC) in serious ways. Our team has been hard at work tracking down repeat CCoC violators and taking action against those creators, their alts, and their rooms. One month in and we’ve already removed over 300 violating rooms! This doesn’t even include the almost 6,000 “Skibidi Toilet” rooms we removed a few weeks ago.In addition to banning rooms, we’ve been future-proofing by banning the creators of these rooms too. We know people make honest mistakes, but we’ve seen a few creators repeatedly and intentionally break the rules. A small number of these creators who have continually violated our CCoC are already receiving permanent bans. Shout out to our players who have been reporting in-game as it helps us identify and take action against those creators breaking our rules. We truly believe that everyone should be able to create in Rec Room and we love seeing what you all are able to do with our tools. The privilege of creation comes with responsibility and we hold our creators to high standards. If the rules for creation are repeatedly broken, we will take measures to protect those standards - like revoking creation privileges and in extreme cases even access to Rec Room.
Cracking Down on CheatersCreators who abuse privileges are just one of the ways a small group of people can disrupt our community. Players using cheats and hacks can have an even wider impact. We've been working hard to improve our cheat detection and enforcement tools. In the last few weeks, we pushed out new updates and are now detecting 15x the cheats we were a month ago. We’re also banning players within 5 minutes of detection so your game can get back on track quicker. We want to be clear though - this is just the start. We know how disruptive cheating is and we’re going to keep investing to stay ahead of the cheaters. We see a lot of people asking for help with cheaters on our social platforms and we hope you start seeing this work impact your in-game experience. Please continue to use your Watch to report any cheaters you encounter as it helps us get to them even faster.
Our CommitmentWe’ve said it before, but as a reminder - we don’t like banning people, but we will take necessary actions to protect the community. If we see creators or players repeatedly break the rules, which are there to make Rec Room fun, safe, and fair for everyone, then we will take action. We hope to continue sharing updates with you all on how we’re doing, so stay tuned and keep giving it your Rec Room best!
